Good morning Brenda, When I checked on the ferrets this evening, Carmel was not good. He was lethargic, didn't come out with Poppins and Twix. He had been taking the soup/amox very good, but I had to work with him to get it in this evening. He appeared dehydrated as his neck fur would tent. I have given him 20 mls of SQ fluids an put him to bed. He looked very tired. Luckily, Poppins jumped in with him and hopefully will keep him warm. Not sure what else to do. I will be calling you in the morning.

Thanks Brenda, I will be leaving in 20 minutes. He is still alive, but does not look good. Charlie

December 20, 2020:
Hello Brenda, Ruben has not been doing well. Started about 2 weeks ago he stopped liking ferretone, would smell it and then "run away". He seemed to be more sleepy. last evening he was lethargic, some tenting in his nape. Glucose was 80, I gave him some dexamethasone. He remains very slow this evening. I have not seen him eat, he has some tenting on his neck. His heartrate goes fast, he shutters each time he breaths out. Heart rate goes pretty slow when he breaths out. Our local vet emergency does not do ferrets, the other place that is an ER used to be 24 hr, but no longer. Any ideas? I called to get an appointment earlier for Monday with Doc, but they were closed. Worse, I no longer have any IV fluids. I am not sure there are any good answers.
Update 2: Good morning Brenda, No improvement with Ruben. Lethargic, breathing has slowed some, HR is upper end of normal, maybe 250+. I did get 20 ml more of subQ fluids, not interested in eating. I am considering leaving my house early with Ruben and heading to Docs. He may have an opening early that I can make if I leave by 6:30 or so. If not, I may be able to just leave him and come back later. Any thoughts on that? To be honest, I again am not sure if he will make it thru the night. Let me know you thoughts. Thanks Brenda.

Doc Charlie called yesterday said he wanted to stop by to see if his kids will mesh with some of the new kids that are here. If they do the new ones will be going to a new home this afternoon. Attached is a picture of Donna sitting on the floor playing with the ferret Doc Charlie is interested in.
