January 21, 2024:
Aurora is doing better now that she is on Pred.

July 24, 2023:
When I was getting Aurora and Bear up this morning for their Meds, Aurora was in the hammock, Bear in the sleep box. I stuck my hand in to get Bear up, sometime during the night she left for Rainbow Bridge. She showed no signs she was not well, she ate her soup with Meds last night. She is gone.

June 13, 2023 AM:
Post-op kids are doing very well I'm going to let Aurora and Bear out of the sick pen in a couple of days to hang out in a small play area, for a bit. Thursday will be a week after surgery they are healed enough to get a bit more move about room. They still will need to be kept in rooms there is nothing to climb, I'll put them back in the sick pen after they get some out time, until I remove their stitches.

June 10, 2023 AM:
Both post-op kids are doing well, Bear moved herself out of the sack and into the pile of blankets I put in the middle of the sick pen. She ate her soup this morning staying under the blankets. Tigger was bright and alert, he was moving easily and ready to get up for his soup.
PM: I offered Bear and Tigger soup around noon, they both ate all of it. I had Tigger in the pan eating his evening soup with meds, I took the soup into Aurora and Bear, when I came back to the ferret room Tigger had finished his bowl of soup, he was standing on the side of the island eating soup out of the blender I had sitting next to him. They are both looking brighter. Their incisions look good.

June 9, 2023:
Both Bear and Tigger came through the surgery, OFD said the masses were straight forward in removal, Doc took some nodes off Bear's pancreas while he was in there. The labs that were done showed Tigger has the start of insulinoma. I've been giving him soup daily because he was at time lethargic. I can tell both ferrets are uncomfortable but they ate their soup well this morning.

March 3, 2021:
Donut is gone, OFD called at 1 this afternoon with the news that Donut wasn't improving, she was refusing food and water even if held and dropper fed. That is not quality of life IMHO, OFD didn't disagree. He said her heart rate had only gone up to 80 even without fluid in her chest.

March 3, 2021:
The update from OFD yesterday morning was Donut was slightly improved. She may be able to come home today. he's going to call me this morning to let me know the plan.

March 2, 2021:
OFD called - Donuts heart is the problem, her heart rate was 76. He was going to give her some Lasix last night. We agreed that quality over quantity. He will call me this morning with a report.

March 1, 2021:
Donut is up at the hospital with OFD, Donna bless her heart met me in Bloomfield took Donut the rest of the way to Brockport. Doc told her he would call me when he has some answers.

February 28, 2021:
AM: everyone is stable except Donut. She definitely looks and acts like she feels like crap. I'm going to call OFD tomorrow to get her in ASAP. I expect what is going on is something he isn't going to be able to fix but I want to see if we can make her more comfortable.
PM: Donut is definitely not doing well. I gave her some fluids this afternoon that made a slight difference in making her more comfortable. She has no desire to get up and get out she is alone in the cage curled up in the Snoopy bed. Aurora was picking on Donut this morning. I hope I can get her into Doc this week.

February 26, 2021:
Donut is doing a bit better, she still looks like she isn't feeling well. I'm going to call OFD on Monday to see if I can get her in. I think there is more going on than just insulinoma.

February 25, 2021:
Donut is slightly improved but she did take her noon and evening med without a fuss.

February 24, 2021:
AM: Donut is acting a bit off, I was able to get enough blood to get a reading from the glucose meter. Her numbers were 52 this morning. She did not want her soup. I dropper fed her for as long as she would take the soup. Until I get her numbers up I will give her meds by dropper from now on.
PM: Donut is still acting lethargic, but I was able to get her to take a full dropper of soup with meds tonight.

February 23, 2021:
I tried to get a BG from Donut at noon but I could get no blood from her, she was feeling better and responsive, she ate all her soup. I tried again to get a reading at pm meds I still couldn't get blood. I will have to work on that again in the morning.

Initial Contact, May 4, 2019:
Hi my name is heather and I have 3 female ferrets. I am going away for college in a few months and don’t have the time they deserve. I did research into the ferret farm and feel that this would be the best fit for them.
