Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body, and the most difficult to absorb. Most calcium is used for bone tissue building, mineral donation and rebuilding. Perhaps 15% of daily intake is needed for nerve impulse conduction, enzyme activation, teeth, nails and other tissues. It must be ionized, or electrically charged to transport across intestinal walls. Without sufficient stomach acid for ionization, many forms of dietary supplements and food sources are poorly absorbed and assimilated. After about age fifty, stomach hydrochloric acid production falls so rapidly that well promoted supplements containing calcium carbonate, oyster shell and calcium phosphate are barely absorbed. Perhaps 5% of available calcium is absorbed in an individual over 65. Young healthy people by contrast can absorb many forms of calcium equally. Unfortunately fewer young people today are truly healthy.
Osteoporosis is mentioned often enough as a public health issue that calcium is promoted extensively. Many of these inorganic inexpensive forms may not be assimilated well enough to provide sufficient blood calcium to be routed into bone tissue. Additionally, sufficient magnesium is required to build flexible bone tissue and help route proper amounts of calcium into bone, rather than into soft tissues like your kidneys and endocrine system. Without sufficient magnesium in bones, excessive percentages of calcium make them hard and quite brittle and easily breakable.
Coral Calcium with Folic Acid formula solves many assimilation problems. Calcium and magnesium are in a 2:1 ratio which promotes strong, flexible bone building and prevents calcium overload in various organs and glands. Many trace minerals are present in coral that are necessary for normal good health. This form of marine source coral provides minerals which easily becomes ionic (electrically charged) after contact with water. Vitamin D3 is added for its well-known action in calcium absorption. Betaine hydrochloride provides extra hydrochloric acid to assist with ionization. Fulvic Acid Trace Minerals provides about 70 minerals in a fulvic acid complex which increases assimilation of all minerals. Boron, in an ionized citrate form, is added because studies show improved bone retention of minerals when sufficient boron is supplemented.
Coral calcium provides readily soluble calcium and magnesium which regulate pH of the blood. 7.4 blood pH is regarded as ideal by many researchers as this encourages oxygen use, mineral transport and reduces oxidation. Bone tissue is the storage unit for these two major pH-buffering minerals. Acidifying diets with lots of sugar, starches and meat pushes blood pH into acid ranges, causing cascading health problems. Bones release calcium and magnesium to buffer acidic conditions. Coral calcium can easily buffer acidic pH and unused mineral is routed into bone tissue in the process called remodeling.
Folic Acid is added to this formula not only for its well-known role in development of embryonic and fetal nerve cells, but for its fundamental coenzyme function in DNA and RNA synthesis. This involves correct replication of DNA/RNA in the production of nerve cells, red blood cells, white blood cells and bone tissue which produces blood cells. Folate is found mostly in fresh fruit and green leafy vegetables. Cooking and microwaving destroys much folate, so its inclusion in Coral Calcium with Folic Acid improves bone tissue rebuilding.
Coral Calcium with Folic Acid is an excellent product for women who wish to maintain healthy bone tissue and may be preparing for pregnancy. Folic Acid must be adequate before pregnancy to assure correct replication of DNA/RNA and building of nerve tissues. Proper levels of Folic Acid must continue at least for the first three months of pregnancy to assure normal development. Two capsules provide 400 micrograms of Folic Acid, or 100% of the USDA. Four per day would be excellent supplementation providing 800 micrograms of Folic Acid and 300 milligrams of magnesium.
Calcium must be chelated, colloidal, ionized or with Fulvic Acid to be fully digestible, absorbable and usable by your body. Fulvic Acid is the best, but the most expensive.
