Help Our Shelter

Make A Donation To The Shelter OR COME PLAY WITH US!

This page will help you to know where our shelter has needs and how you can help if you so desire.

This picture is an illustration especially done by our shelter friend Sue Burda.

On behalf of all the fur kids here, we would like to thank everyone that takes the time to check us out, and help us out.

Donations are like rain drops in a bucket under a leaky roof. Does not matter how much rain falls the bucket will soon be full. Bless you for your help.

We Need Something Special - Can You Help?

Okay we need some help – mum is getting far too old to keep this up – here is our story:

We live on a farm; Ha that’s why we are called Lakeroad Ferret Farm Rescue/Shelter, Inc – anyway we have well water to drink, the well water is safe to drink but tastes yucky, mum cooks with it, makes our soup with it but to drink it – cough, spit and sputter yucky! Well that is what mum says she will not let us drink it she hauls 24 gallons of drinking water into the house every week. She is getting too old to be doing that! Mum does not think so but our shelter helpers do! Guess because they hear mum huffing and puffing when they help her bring it in.

Miss Kathy C. got us a filter for the kitchen sink so mum can have drinking water but that does not filter near enough water for us fur kids – it helps but does not cover all the water we fur kids use –

Miss Mindy found this, sent it to mum and said this:

http://cart.berkeyfilters.com/berkey-light.aspx

With the standard filters that come with this unit it will filter 6,000 gallons, cleaning with only a tooth brush. Extra filters are only $100 (per set). If we use say 40 gallons a week – this should last about 150 weeks... or 37 Months without replacing the filter. – No more hauling water and the ability to use your outside rain buckets, hand pump out in the yard, or the stream for water should something happen to the house water supply.

They also sell Shower head/filter system which would allow a shower to be used for fill buckets and clean water bottles with drinking water.

We are a 501c3 organization.

We have fallen in love with a supply item that we can not live without.  It is called Coroplast.  We now use it for everything from ferret proofing, cage covers, floor covers, and even to make hidey holes.

The problem with this great new stuff is that's its very hard to buy.  However, many places use it, and will throw it away, not knowing that us fur-kids can use it!  Will you do some snooping around and help us find some?

Here are ideas for finding Coroplast:

* Fast food stores and even your local gas stations use them as part of their monthly on-sale signs. When the month is over they throw the signs away.

* Ask any of the big stores, large shipping, or distribution centers as they often use it to cover wooden pallets.

* Glass Stores also use it as a packing material.

* Real-estate agencies also use it as their for sale signs.

* In the yellow pages under 'Signs' - let them know its for us furkids and not to make your own sign.

The glue that is used on mailing envelopes has gluten in it, so when mum licks it she gets sick.
